3 Months to Alaska

It was a long drive just to get to Vancouver. There was a lot of cars and other vehicles waiting to cross the border with us. Here is a good travel tip, never take directions for a short cut from strangers. This older couple who seemed to be very nice people, gave us a shortcut that would cut 50 miles off our trip, so the gullible kids we were accepted and found the route we were told about. Everything was fine till we hit the uphill section. A 10% grade two lane gravel switchback. We were down to 2nd gear for most of the climb, I thought I was going to have to get out and push.

The shortcut may have cut 50 miles off our journey, but it probably cost us two hours or more. It did give us some spectacular views that we may not have seen otherwise. And the adrenaline rush we gained might have made it worth it after all.  We did make it through to the Alcan Hwy.
